The President’s power to issue pardons is severely limited. He can pardon anyone convicted of a federal crime, but has no power to pardon anyone convicted of a state crime. In the US the vast majority of people convicted of possession of marijuana are convicted under state law; not federal law.

You can also write to them using snail mail at the Office of the Governor; 401 S. Spring St.; Springfield, IL 62704.  You can try to call them at Phone Numbers: 217-782-6830 or 217-782-6831.  In my experience, the phone number will take you to an automated message that tells you to email them.  Whichever method you choose, be sure to include the name, inmate number, and current prison of your loved one. #endmassincarceration #instajustice
