Pina! I'm

0:04

someone who loves trying out different makeup looks, but

0:06

doesn't really wear much on a daily basis, so

0:09

I like to focus on making sure I

0:11

have high-quality staples. And whether

0:13

you like a fresh face, full

0:15

glam, or somewhere in between, you've

0:17

probably seen Thrive Cosmetics' Viral Tubing

0:19

Mascara. I've certainly seen it everywhere,

0:21

you know, the one in the turquoise tube? So

0:24

that mascara, along with all of

0:26

Thrive Cosmetics' beauty products, are certified

0:29

100% vegan and cruelty-free, which I look

0:31

for in makeup, and they've got excellent

0:33

quality to match. And something I

0:36

didn't know from all the mascara videos

0:38

I've seen is that for every product

0:40

sold, Thrive Cosmetics donates either that same

0:42

product, another product that is needed more,

0:44

or a monetary donation. They've worked with over

0:47

500 nonprofits to help with

0:49

a wide range of causes like

0:51

supporting cancer survivors, people experiencing homelessness,

0:54

education access, and so much more.

0:57

Knowing that makes me feel even better about

0:59

using their products. And I do enjoy using

1:01

them. Like I said, I like having high-quality

1:03

staples, and so my favorites are

1:05

products that are multi-purpose, like the Brilliant

1:07

Eye Brightener. It comes in a bunch

1:09

of colors, and I like using them

1:12

as eyeliner, eyeshadow, and even highlighter. Thrive

1:14

Cosmetics is luxury beauty that gives back. Right

1:16

now, you can get an exclusive 20% off

1:20

1:44

Hi, my name is Adam Gidwitz.

1:47

I'm an author. I'm also a storyteller.

1:50

I like telling all kinds of

1:52

stories, but I especially like telling

1:54

grim fairy tales. You

1:57

may think you know grim fairy tales, and

1:59

you may think that they are are sweet and

2:01

boring. But listen, those

2:04

tales you heard were the cute, happy,

2:06

little kid bedtime versions of the Grimm

2:08

tales. The original Grimm

2:10

fairy tales aren't like that at all.

2:13

They're weird and sometimes gross

2:16

and often scary. In

2:19

other words, they're Grimm. And

2:21

I'm about to host a virtual

2:24

storytelling session and tell one of

2:26

the original Grimm Grimm tales to

2:28

a bunch of kids. Do

2:30

you want to join me? Do you want

2:32

to hear a Grimm fairy tale? I

2:35

don't know if you said yes or no, because

2:37

I can't hear you. So let me help you

2:39

decide. On a

2:41

scale of Grimm, Grimmer and Grim-ist,

2:44

the story I'm going to tell

2:46

today is Grimm. There

2:48

is some fighting near the end, but it's

2:50

not bloody or gruesome so much as weird.

2:53

If I

2:55

get to a part of the story and you

2:57

start to feel scared or uncomfortable, this

2:59

is what you could do. You

3:02

could turn down the volume and count to

3:04

five, then turn the volume

3:06

back up. If

3:08

it still seems like a part you don't want to

3:10

hear, turn it down and count to five again. You

3:13

know how much weird and gross and scary

3:15

you're ready for. You know

3:18

what you need. Okay,

3:21

I'm about to join the session. There

3:23

are kids inside waiting to hear a

3:25

Grimm fairy tale. So,

3:30

are you coming in? All

3:39

right, let's tell a story, shall

3:41

we? This

3:48

is one of the weirdest stories that I'm going

3:50

to tell you. What?

4:00

St. von Sherbert. It is actually

4:02

not by Franz Ksava von Schoenwirth,

4:05

also known as Sherbert

4:07

von Sherbert, or whatever you call him. Sherbert

4:09

von Sherbert. St. von Sherbert. This

4:12

is by the Brothers Grimm, but it

4:15

is super weird. I know! And

4:17

it is called the

4:20

Stone Gnomes. Once

4:23

upon a time, there was a king who was

4:26

kind of a jerk. Have you seen my army?

4:28

He loved to brag about how tough he was,

4:30

and how big his army was, and how he

4:32

had never been beaten in any kind of fight

4:34

in his whole life. Now

4:38

this king had a baby boy. The

4:41

king wanted his baby boy to grow up to

4:43

be strong and tough like him. So

4:45

he called a fortune teller to the palace, a

4:48

fortune teller who specialized in reading

4:50

the constellations. And the

4:52

king asked the fortune teller how big and

4:54

tough this baby prince would grow up to

4:56

be. The

4:59

fortune teller gazed up at the stars and

5:02

said, oh no, a

5:04

horrible fate awaits the prince.

5:07

When he reaches the age of 16, a stag

5:11

will take his life. Okay

5:13

question, what does that mean? What

5:16

is a stag, and what does it mean to take

5:18

his life? Um, a stag is

5:20

a deer with like really big horns. Yes.

5:23

And to take his life means to murder him. Um,

5:27

I feel like the dying at 16

5:29

gave me sort of a sleeping beauty

5:31

vibe. Oh, I get that, I get

5:33

that. Well

5:37

usually in fairy tales when there's some dark

5:39

prophecy, like if a girl pricks her finger

5:41

with a spinning wheel she'll fall asleep forever,

5:44

the king would banish all the spinning wheels.

5:47

So you'd expect the king to banish all

5:49

stags, or never let the prince go hunting,

5:51

or something like that. But

5:54

this king was kind of a jerk.

5:57

Uh huh. Yeah. And it was

5:59

like my favorite. My son's not gonna get killed

6:01

by a stag. I'll show you who's gonna

6:03

get killed by a stag. And I'm gonna

6:05

let my son go out every single day.

6:08

And he'll come back with a dead stag

6:10

head in his arms to hunt, hang over

6:12

the mantle on the fireplace. Are you

6:14

reading over my shoulder? Yeah! Then that's exactly

6:16

what's about to happen. Oh. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. You

6:18

see, the king decided that the best way

6:20

to make sure the prince was tough was

6:23

to make the prince go hunting for stags all

6:26

the time. Oh no.

6:29

No stag will take your

6:31

life. The king would boast.

6:33

Let them try! You'll

6:35

kill any stag you see, my

6:38

son. You'll kill him dead. The

6:41

prince would often sigh softly to himself.

6:45

I don't like it. But I have

6:47

to do what my father says because he's the

6:49

king. And also, he never

6:51

listens to me. Well,

6:56

on the morning of the prince's 16th birthday,

6:58

the king took him out hunting for stags.

7:01

Which, let's be honest, was really,

7:03

really dumb. This kind

7:05

of gives me, like, um, the

7:07

flying trunk vibe because he's like,

7:10

this father is like, don't embarrass

7:12

me and my ri- don't ruin

7:14

my reputation. Right. So he's doing

7:16

this for his benefit. Soon,

7:19

they saw an amazing and beautiful

7:21

stag with enormous antlers. The

7:23

king cried, go get it, champ!

7:27

Oh my gosh. And, very

7:29

reluctantly, the prince said,

7:31

yes, father. So

7:34

the prince began to chase the stag. The

7:36

king tried to keep up, but the stag was

7:39

fast, and the prince was too. The

7:41

prince's heart pounded, with exertion, but

7:44

also with fear. For

7:46

he knew the prophecy. He was

7:48

afraid of it. But he

7:50

was more afraid of his tough-guy father, the

7:52

king. The

7:56

prince chased the great stag through the forest, this way

7:58

and that. Soon, the king The king

8:00

completely lost sight of them. Over

8:02

fallen trees and through thick brambles the stag

8:04

led the prince. Until

8:07

they came to the edge of a cliff. The

8:10

stag turned and faced the prince. The

8:12

prince panted, sweating, staring at the

8:15

beautiful stag. And he wondered,

8:18

is the stag going to kill me now? But

8:20

just then, the stag

8:23

transformed. His

8:25

back hooves became feet. His front

8:27

hooves became hands. He stood

8:29

up to lead power over the prince. And

8:32

his enormous antlers became a

8:34

huge and terrible 20-pointed sword.

8:37

Things can be weirder than French sharpens or

8:40

bunschorts. Definitely.

8:43

This definitely tops French, because that's one of

8:46

the shouldn't be stories. For

8:48

weirdness, oh, guys, the weirdness hasn't

8:50

even begun. What? Now,

8:54

instead of a stag, stood a

8:56

giant knight in black armor. And

8:59

he said to the prince, I have

9:01

been hunting you your whole life. And

9:04

now I've got you. And

9:06

he grabbed the prince and carried him

9:09

away. Let go of me. My

9:12

father will get you. They

9:19

soon arrived at the outskirts of the

9:21

kingdom, at the Knights Crumbling Manor. The

9:24

tumbledown estate was surrounded by the dark

9:26

entrances to old mines that had once

9:28

produced stone for buildings and iron for

9:31

weapons. But now, lay barren.

9:34

At this manor lived the knight's

9:37

daughter, who was just about the

9:39

prince's age. You'll stay here

9:41

with me and my daughter, the knight told

9:43

the prince. For on the day

9:45

of my daughter's birth, I went to see an

9:47

old fortune teller. And he looked

9:50

up at the constellations and told me

9:52

that you would save my daughter's life

9:54

and that she would be a queen.

9:56

Wait, there was a prophecy about me

9:58

too, the prince. tried to tell him,

10:01

but the knight never listened to anybody. He

10:03

went on. So you must

10:06

watch over my daughter and protect her,

10:08

and one day soon you will marry

10:10

her and bring her back to your

10:12

palace as your wife, because then she

10:14

will be a queen. And

10:17

if you don't do everything I say, I will

10:19

kill you. And

10:22

the knight waved the twenty-pointed sword in

10:24

the prince's face. That's

10:26

so terrible. You can't force

10:28

marriage. Right? So you didn't

10:30

medieval hunt. Is it

10:32

ever okay to force someone to marry somebody

10:34

else? No. There'll

10:38

be like forcing a bear to marry

10:40

a zebra. The bear would just eat

10:42

the zebra. And now let's

10:44

go on. Well, upon

10:46

hearing the knight's pronouncement, the prince

10:49

was terrified. And sad.

10:51

And just generally miserable. And

10:54

the knight's daughter, whose name was Petra, seemed

10:56

to be just as unhappy about this arrangement

10:59

as the prince was. Oh, finally.

11:01

Somebody has a name. Yes.

11:03

And what was her name? I

11:06

forgot. Petra. Petra.

11:09

Petra, I will petrify you. It's

11:11

petrify. Yeah, petrify. And what does petrify

11:13

mean? To be paralyzed,

11:15

turned into stone. Wait. Say

11:18

it again. To be turned into

11:20

stone. So what do you think the

11:22

word Petra means? Maybe

11:24

stone? Yes. Oh,

11:27

I get it. Stone-ify. Petrify.

11:29

Yes. That's so right. That's it.

11:34

The knight insisted that the prince follow

11:37

his daughter around all day in case

11:39

her life needed saving. So

11:41

the prince did. At first,

11:43

the prince tried to make small talk

11:45

with Petra. So pretty

11:48

cloudy today, huh? Is

11:52

it always cloudy here? Nice,

11:57

I guess. But.

12:01

Soon he realized it was no use.

12:03

Petra. Refused to speak to him. Instead,

12:06

she said a long way off and

12:08

played with rocks that were lying around

12:10

the manners ground near the entrances of

12:12

the old mine's. On.

12:16

The rocks. Are

12:20

locked up for that's gonna

12:22

make me when I'm sixteen.

12:24

Says that's because you're cool. Some rocks

12:27

were sparkly quarters others were dole, or

12:29

all of the rocks seemed more interesting

12:31

to Petra than the Prince was. After

12:37

dinner on the first evening of

12:39

the Prince's captivity. The night

12:41

made another startling announcement. He.

12:44

Told the prince that he would have to

12:46

sit on the floor in Tatras room. Until

12:49

sunrise. I'll check on you every

12:51

hour to make sure you're watching

12:53

over her and you haven't fallen

12:55

asleep. And he waved the twenty

12:57

pointed sword in the princess face

12:59

again. That

13:02

night, the Prince sat on the floor

13:04

of Petras Room. It was no creaky

13:06

room that looked like it might have

13:08

been fancy many years ago, but now

13:10

was just kind of creepy. And the

13:12

creepiest thing in the room was a

13:14

giant stone statue of a very ugly

13:16

man. The. Man was so

13:18

ugly. In fact, he barely looked

13:21

like a man. What he really

13:23

looked like was an enormous stone

13:25

Know. Some crazy.

13:28

After the nice had locked the door of

13:31

Petras room and retreated to his chamber that

13:33

you're told the prince not to bother watching

13:35

over her. Chest

13:38

sleep. She said rocky here

13:40

will protect me. On her

13:42

answer my father when he costs. Money.

13:45

Around. That. Return towards the

13:47

statue and looked at it expectantly. suddenly

13:50

the statue started to now

13:52

he began or nodding very

13:55

fast and then slowed down

13:57

and went slower and slower

14:00

and slower until about half an

14:02

hour later it had finally came

14:04

to a stop. And

14:07

the prince thought, my life has gotten

14:09

so weird. But he did as

14:11

Petra said. He lay down on the

14:13

floor and tried to fall asleep. All

14:16

night, each hour on the

14:18

hour, the night knocked on the door. Are

14:24

you watching over my daughter? The night would

14:26

call. And Rocky would say, and

14:29

the yes would echo. Do

14:36

you guys want to do that? It's kind of fun. And

14:42

the night would go away, satisfied.

14:45

Through all this, the prince lay awake on

14:47

the floor, wondering what in the world was

14:49

going on. By

14:53

morning, the night was happy and said to the

14:55

prince, I am impressed by

14:57

how vigilant you were. You kept watch

14:59

all night. The prince was about

15:01

to tell him that he hadn't done anything, that

15:03

the giant stone statue had watched over Petra, and

15:06

that really he didn't seem to be necessary as

15:08

Petra was quite well protected without him. And couldn't

15:10

he just go home now? But

15:13

before the prince spoke, he saw

15:15

Petra's face. She subtly

15:17

put her finger to her lips. Why

15:19

would she do that? Because

15:22

she's a secret. He doesn't know about

15:24

Rocky. A secret from

15:26

her father. So the

15:28

prince said nothing. As

15:31

they were finishing breakfast, the night announced

15:33

that he wanted to begin planning their

15:35

wedding. But Petra wouldn't hear

15:37

of it. She wasn't mean

15:39

or rude. She was just very clear

15:41

that she did not want to marry

15:43

the prince. I'm sorry, but I refuse.

15:46

Her father shouted at her. Don't

15:48

be so stubborn and foolish. He

15:51

explained to her, this is a

15:53

prophecy. It has to happen. And

15:55

finally, he begged her. You'd

15:57

be the queen of this whole kingdom. The

16:00

you want to be queen,

16:02

don't you? I'm already the

16:04

queen of a far greater

16:06

kinda at your reply and

16:08

she went outside to play

16:10

with her rocks that I

16:12

stormed off grumbling and the

16:14

prince thought mice has gotten

16:16

so. So we're. Left.

16:19

To see me? She's already the queen

16:21

of a far greater kingdom. I'd

16:23

spent. Seems like when she grows

16:25

up, she'll beat the Queen and

16:28

maybe someone else. Okay, interesting.

16:30

Maybe I. Don't

16:34

know. Maybe a site

16:36

that flat? Panel

16:38

it as. All

16:40

day will be at fault. And

16:43

and scroll. Very. Interesting theory.

16:45

Know. And Love. Maybe

16:50

say, Some place on see

16:52

like as the queen of

16:54

like that as a stone

16:57

them. In some. Interesting.

17:01

That afternoon, the prince went on

17:03

to follow Petra around again, among

17:05

the abandoned mines and scrubby lands.

17:07

She still refused to speak to him. She.

17:10

Just sat with her rocks. He

17:12

watched her, she talked to them.

17:16

Finally, the prince began to watch

17:19

the rocks. Which is when he

17:21

realized that the rocks seemed to

17:23

be moving on. their own son

17:25

and. He came

17:28

a little closer he looked very

17:30

hard for the rocks Now appeared

17:32

to be as still as well

17:35

as still. the stones. Settle.

17:38

Moved away and the prince watch

17:40

the rocks carefully. When had for

17:43

began talking to them, they appear

17:45

to start moving again without her

17:47

touching them. The prince rubbed his

17:50

eyes. Became a

17:52

little closer. the rocks fell still

17:54

against. Petrol looked over

17:56

her shoulder. she saw the

17:58

prince watching her He

18:01

smiled. She moved away

18:03

again. Okay,

18:05

raise your hand if you have a guess as to what

18:07

is happening. What is going on, do you think? I

18:09

think this is the kingdom she was talking about.

18:13

Huh. Interesting. Things

18:15

went on like this for many weeks. The

18:17

prince wished he could escape this wasteland

18:20

of barren mines and this girl who

18:22

talked to rocks. But the

18:24

walls of the night's manor were very

18:26

high, and the night sat all day

18:28

in a watchtower over the gate, sharpening

18:30

his terrible, many-pointed soul. There

18:34

was no chance for escape. Dang.

18:38

Meanwhile back at the palace, the king had

18:40

figured that the fortune teller's prophecy had come

18:43

true, and a stag had taken his son's

18:45

life. But

18:47

then a royal hunter returned

18:49

to the palace with some

18:51

interesting news. Your highness, I have

18:53

some interesting news. What is

18:55

it? I followed the footsteps of the prince

18:57

and the stag through the woods until I came

18:59

to the edge of a cliff. There,

19:02

suddenly, another set of footprints

19:04

appeared, as if by

19:06

magic. What? I know. These

19:09

new footprints led me all the way

19:11

to a crumbling old manor on the

19:13

very edge of your kingdom, which belongs

19:16

to the night of the many-pointed sword,

19:18

and inside, through locked gates, I saw

19:20

your son. Are you

19:23

telling me that my son has

19:25

been kidnapped by the knight of

19:27

the many-pointed sword? Well, I don't

19:29

know, Your Majesty, but it seems

19:32

possible. This means war! Uh,

19:35

do you want me to figure out for

19:37

sure, before we start a war?

19:40

Don't bother raising an army! Prepare

19:42

for battle! Okay. While

19:46

the king was raising an army to attack

19:48

the night's manor, the prince kept trying to

19:50

befriend Petra, because, let's be honest, he was

19:53

super bored and he really needed a friend.

19:56

But Petra never smiled at him, and

19:59

she never let him get out of the way. close to her when

20:01

she was playing with her rocks. Until

20:04

one day, Petra glanced over her

20:06

shoulder at the prince, and

20:09

he smiled, and she

20:11

did not move away.

20:14

She just stared. And

20:19

then she gestured for him to

20:22

come closer. Me? Petra

20:25

nodded. The prince hurried

20:27

over to her. She

20:29

was surrounded by a dozen stones, ranging from

20:31

tiny pebbles to rocks as high as her

20:33

knee. The prince sat

20:35

beside her, and she kept silent for a

20:38

long time, and he didn't know

20:40

what to think. But

20:42

at last, she said, Would you like

20:44

to meet my friends? Okay,

20:47

here's my question for you. What

20:49

would you say if somebody showed you a bunch of rocks

20:51

and said, Do you want to meet my friends? What

20:54

would you say? Well, yes, I totally do. Yes.

20:58

Absolutely. I would say,

21:00

I've been here for

21:02

weeks. Yes.

21:06

The prince wanted to say, You mean you want me

21:08

to meet a bunch of rocks? Aren't

21:10

I meeting them right now? It's

21:13

super fun, let me tell you. But

21:15

he didn't say that. He said, Yes,

21:17

I would. So Petra said,

21:20

It's all right. You

21:22

can come out. The rocks began

21:24

to move on their own again. The

21:27

prince began to notice that the cracks and lines in the

21:29

rocks looked kind of a lot like faces

21:33

and arms and

21:35

hands and feet. And

21:38

he realized that the rocks were not rocks at

21:40

all. They were gnomes

21:43

or rather, maybe they were rocks,

21:45

but they were also gnomes. Gnomes.

21:49

Stone gnomes. Oh, gnomes. That's

21:51

a flying. Petra

21:58

introduced the gnomes to the prince. One

22:00

by one though his own

22:02

son will granted under his

22:05

Katrina cove May I introduce.

22:07

Maximilian Marble. And

22:10

this of course is ideal

22:12

for. And Peter Piper fucked

22:14

a pebble. Totally

22:16

works as he introduced them,

22:19

they Bowed or Percy Shelley.

22:22

From. That day force had to let

22:24

the prince play with her and her

22:26

gnome friends and the days where much

22:28

better and Rocky watched over them at

22:30

night and the prince stopped dreaming of

22:32

running away. The

22:35

prince had a different story. He

22:38

dreamt of Sunder. The

22:41

thunder it is dream was so loud

22:43

it woke him up and that's when

22:45

he realized this under was in his.

22:48

It was outside. He

22:51

ran to the window and

22:53

gasped in surprise move. Thought

22:56

is a thunderous. Those. Are the

22:58

footsteps of it Burmese? my father's

23:00

or me and Petra said that

23:02

Know you might think that the

23:05

King had surprised the many. Pots.

23:09

He had not. You see the night

23:11

had gotten wind of the kings plan

23:13

and he had raised and army own.

23:15

With a blair of trumpets and a

23:18

beating of drums and the thunder of

23:20

a thousand seat the night in the

23:22

king lead their armies out to a

23:24

grey seals They faced one another, the

23:27

king's blood and white looking especially tough

23:29

and ready for war the night wearing

23:31

his black armor and wielding his many

23:34

pointed the so. Again and

23:36

shall now turn against each other.

23:38

I love that! The

23:44

two armies facing each other.

23:47

Many soldiers would die soldiers

23:49

no older than the Prince

23:52

and petra. Killing

23:54

your own people? This did

23:56

not seem right. to the

23:58

prince so he ran out into the

24:00

middle of the field and shouted, Stop! Everyone

24:04

stopped. You don't need

24:06

to fight. We can solve this

24:08

another way. The

24:10

king scoffed. Another

24:12

way? Why would we solve

24:14

it another way? War is fun. War

24:17

is the best. I want to kill

24:19

some bad guys. No, you're not

24:21

gonna kill any bad guys. You are the bad

24:24

guy. He's

24:26

like, I will fight this war for peace.

24:30

But you're fighting in a war. Yeah. The

24:33

knight in black scoffed too. I'm

24:36

going to defeat the king's army, kill

24:38

the king, and then I will be

24:40

king myself. And then

24:43

when I die, my daughter will

24:45

be queen. Just like

24:47

the fortune teller predicted. This

24:49

war is meant to be. It

24:53

is my destiny. Let's

24:55

go kill some people. The

24:58

prince looked back and forth between the two

25:00

mean, stupid, warlike men. He

25:03

sighed and shook his head. What

25:06

else could he do? It's me.

25:09

It's Chrome. It

25:12

is very, very, very

25:14

crisp. The king yelled,

25:16

Charge! The

25:19

king's army charged. The

25:21

knight yelled, Charge! The knight's

25:23

army charged. Their soldiers

25:25

ran at one another. Ready

25:28

to kill. And then there

25:30

was a third voice yelling,

25:33

Charge! It was Petra. It

25:36

was Petra who rode

25:38

forth onto the battlefield in a

25:41

stone chariot pulled by two stone

25:43

griffins and leading an enormous army

25:45

of tiny stone gnomes. And

25:48

lumbering behind them was Rocky, the

25:50

huge stone gnome who watched over

25:52

Petra while she slept. And

25:55

as the two human armies tried to fight each other,

25:57

the stone gnomes were trapped. with

26:00

towards the spheres, but with their tiny stone

26:02

feet and their tiny stone feet, they

26:05

punched and kicked the soldiers, and their

26:07

punches and kicks really hurt, and the

26:09

soldiers fell to the ground. The human

26:11

armies tried to fight back, but they

26:13

suddenly found that their weapons had turned

26:15

from steel to stone, and were too

26:17

heavy to lift, and

26:19

the tiny stone gnomes punched and kicked them,

26:21

and the soldiers yelped in surprise and grabbed

26:23

their knees and stomachs and butts. The

26:26

gnomes really seemed to like kicking them in their

26:28

butts. Okay,

26:30

can half of you make the

26:32

sound of stone gnomes attacking the

26:34

soldiers, and the other half of

26:36

you be the human soldiers who butts are

26:38

being kicked, okay? Wait, I'll be the human.

26:41

Okay, on the count of three, choose who

26:43

you want to be. One, two, three, go.

26:53

Rocky stormed forward. With

26:55

one hand, he grabbed the nice black armor and lifted

26:57

him into the air. The knight

26:59

tried to hack at Rocky with his many points of

27:01

sword, but it did no good. Rocky

27:04

carried the knight over to the king, and he picked up

27:06

the king with his other hand and lifted him into the

27:08

air. The king tried to stab Rocky

27:10

with his sword, but that didn't do any good either.

27:13

Then the king tried to stab the knight, and

27:15

the knight tried to stab the king, but Rocky

27:17

held the two far apart, so they were swinging

27:19

their weapons at the air, like two top arms

27:21

being held away from each other by their mother.

27:23

Then he gave them wedgies. No,

27:27

Rocky walked to the deepest coal mine, and

27:29

he tossed the king and the knight in.

27:32

They fell for a long, long time.

27:37

The prince said to Petra, did Rocky just

27:39

kill our fathers? No, he

27:41

just threw them into the land of the

27:43

stone gnomes, but

27:45

I don't think they'll ever find their way out. Maybe

27:49

they can fight each other down

27:51

there forever. Oh, said the prince,

27:53

and he shrugged. Okay.

27:58

Both of the human armies surrender. Then

28:01

Petra climbed up on Rocky's

28:03

shoulders and called everyone to

28:05

her. All the human

28:07

soldiers gathered round. None of

28:09

them had died, obviously, because they'd just been punched

28:11

and kicked in the butt with little stone feet

28:14

and fists. Petra

28:16

announced, There shall be no more

28:18

war. Is

28:20

that understood? The human soldiers all

28:22

understood. Then

28:25

the prince called out, Petra! You

28:28

are fierce and quiet and kind

28:30

and wise. I would be

28:32

honored if you would be my wife and

28:35

queen of this kingdom. And

28:37

Petra replied, What do you think she's gonna say? No!

28:41

Yes! No! I'm living

28:43

with my rocks! Petra

28:46

replied, I am

28:48

already queen of a far

28:50

greater kingdom, the land of the

28:52

stone gnomes. You can rule

28:55

this one. I will rule that

28:57

one. And uh,

28:59

no, I don't really want to get married.

29:02

Thank you. I know that!

29:05

And the prince said, Oh, okay. I

29:07

get it! She would be queen! Why? Well,

29:10

he is queen of the whole world! That's

29:13

not what it's called! That's

29:16

what it's called now! So

29:19

the prince became king because his father was lost

29:21

in the land of the stone gnomes. And

29:24

Petra kept being queen of the land of the

29:26

stone gnomes. Because she

29:28

always had been. One

29:32

day, a little while after all this happened,

29:35

the prince called the old fortune teller to

29:37

the palace. You guys remember the fortune teller?

29:39

Yes! Yes! The

29:41

prince said to the fortune teller, I don't

29:43

understand. None of your prophecies

29:45

came true. Yes, they did. Okay,

29:47

let's review. What were the prophecies? That

29:50

Petra will one day become queen. Okay.

29:53

You saved Petra's life. Okay. And then he

29:55

would be killed by a stag. Okay.

29:58

I know. his life

30:00

because they were so vague about that. Maybe

30:02

instead of killing him, to take his

30:05

life would be the stag would take

30:07

his old life away and have him start

30:09

a new life. Very

30:11

interesting. And the fortune

30:13

teller said, What do you mean? First,

30:16

I prophesied that the stag would take

30:19

your life. It did take your life

30:21

and turned it all topsy-turvy, didn't it?

30:24

So you get no refund for that. Second,

30:26

I said Petra would be a queen and

30:29

she is a queen, isn't she? Queen of

30:31

the stone gnomes. So I got that one

30:33

right too. Finally, I said you'd marry her.

30:35

That one I got wrong, but you gotta

30:37

admit, for a fortune teller, two out of

30:39

three ain't bad. Most of these fortune tellers

30:41

out here are just making everything up. The

30:43

prince had to agree that this was true.

30:46

And so the prince ruled his kingdom for a hundred

30:48

years and married a very nice woman and they had

30:50

lots of kids. And Petra ruled

30:53

her kingdom for a thousand years

30:55

and she never married anyone. Wait,

30:57

wait, wait. So my

30:59

question is, she's

31:01

still alive after a thousand years? Right?

31:04

Crazy, right? Wait, how does she survive

31:07

a thousand years? Yeah, she must have had

31:09

a strong immune system. But

31:12

Petra played with her stone gnomes every day.

31:15

And sometimes the prince's kids would come and

31:17

visit her and they'd play with the stone

31:19

gnomes too. And then

31:21

later the prince's grandkids came to play. And

31:24

then his great grandkids and great great

31:26

grandkids. Then, well, you get the picture.

31:29

And they all lived happily ever

31:32

after. The end.

31:42

What was up with Petra? I mean, she was able to talk

31:44

to stone gnomes, she lived to a thousand. Any theories? She

31:47

was probably immortal. She wasn't stone to

31:49

a thousand. She was stone to a

31:51

thousand. Rocky gave her immortality, she just

31:53

didn't tell anybody. Maybe. Oh, I know.

31:56

She was a stone herself. Like her

31:58

father was a deer himself. But

32:00

he could turn into a human. Oh interesting. I think he

32:02

was a human that could turn into a deer, but who

32:04

knows? Right. Maybe she was a

32:06

stone who could turn into a human. Yes.

32:09

Maybe such as mom was Medusa. Oh We

32:11

know that wouldn't work. Medusa had no

32:13

kids. Grim,
