The funky drum withdrawals have hit me... I had to break out some of the late 60's/early 70's grooves for this show. Easily at home in the church or Harry Callahan's 8-track, these are some of the juiciest food for your soul I have in my collection. Highlights include my favorite version of High Heel Sneakers, with Jimmy yellin' and gruntin' all throughout. The incomporable Eddie Harris makes an appearance halfway through with "Funky Doo", the only recorded performance of this song.
And then, holding it down at the end are two Prestige heavyweights: Rusty Bryant and Charles Earland. This is the b-side of the Fire Eater record, check my KEEP THE FAITH mix to hear one of the best performances ever put to tape.
Enjoy, and thanks for listening!
