Welcome to the SIXTH episode of 'Voices from Herriot Country', a new podcast about Yorkshire characters 50 years after the first 'James Herriot' book about life as a rural vet was published. Alf Wight (his real name) soon became a bestselling phenomenon. There were two films based on his books, as well as the popular BBC TV series, 'All Creatures Great and Small'. Who could ever forget that theme tune. And now there's a new Channel 5 TV series to enjoy too!
In our sixth episode we have a special link to the original 'All Creatures Great and Small' with tourism boss and proud Yorkshireman James Mason, the CEO of 'Welcome to Yorkshire'. Now in his early 40s, it's James' job to promote his county's many assets, from its Dales, Moors and coastline to its history, culture, food and drink. But as a youngster James also did his bit to promote Yorkshire, 'Herriot Country' in particular. Hope you enjoy listening to The Child Actor.....
