Wakefield Talking Newspaper is a voluntary organisation which records news and information from the Wakefield Express onto MP3 memory sticks for distribution to those who are registered as visually-impaired or blind. In addition to weekly readings from the Express, we also provide articles read from magazines such as "Reader's Digest", "SAGA magazine", "Sports Weekly" and "People's Friend". We provide about five hours of listening to our members each week.
We loan to all our members playback devices, which are specially designed to be convenient for visually impaired users, although our MP3 sticks can also be played on any computer or other conventional playback device that accepts USB sticks.
